Job Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
Reports To: Director, International Pools
Position Summary
Provide management leadership and support to field operations and International chassis pool staff. Assure that operations are performed within budgetary guidelines.
Essential Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
1. Meet the budgeted financial plan.
Negotiate with vendors to ensure best possible rates are attained.
Develop, implement and maintain procedures essential to the performance of the Metro Pool and Massport chassis pools.
Develop and maintain customer contacts as well as inter-company relationships sufficient to ensure the proper service levels are being provided to the customers.
Utilize available tools to enhance management accountability and produce required management reports.
Train, review performance and provide support for staff; Develop bench strength.
Nonessential Duties
Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Gather intelligence on competitor positions in the market.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree or minimum ten (10) years experience in Operations Management, preferably in the intermodal or steamship industry
Strong negotiation and analytical skills
Innovative approach to problem solving
Excellent communication skills – both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work independently and manage a team
Special Position Requirements
1. Ability to travel domestically as required.
Preferences
1. Working knowledge of Spanish preferred.
Work Requirements
Must be able to work flexible hours.
