National Coalition of Latino Leaders Oppose Grant of Immigration Superpowers to Police Officers
Posted: Monday, March 26, 2007
Morristown, NJ - USHAA and Latino organizations from California, Florida, New York and New Jersey express strong opposition to the planned grant of immigration agent superpowers (e.g. racial profiling) to police officers in Morristown, NJ and other municipalities. The two roles inherently conflict and could result in violations of civil rights and constitutional protections. This plan also could undermine the fundamental mission of our bravest and finest - fighting crime and terrorism to ensure the security of all Americans.
